Damage Assessment Team
The DAT is activated when high wind, flood and/or earthquake damage has occurred, or is suspected to have occurred, to University facilities. The DAT will assess buildings for occupancy; post placards on assessed buildings indicating occupancy restrictions; and share results with the Emergency Operations Center. The 9-person team consists of University professionals from Facilities Planning & Construction, Facilities Management, Environmental Health & Safety and Construction Management faculty. New team members attend two FEMA courses designed to instruct participants in pre- and post-emergency building assessments.
The University's team utilizes FEMA's protocols and practices when conducting damage assessment activities. Since this program is a national standard, our Damage Assessment Team can effortlessly integrate with similiar teams when widespread damage warrants a large response.
The team contact is David Leech.
